Late Season Rains Bring in Fresh Chinook Salmon on the Elk River and the Sixes Rivers near Port Orford, Oregon
Though Elk River and Sixes River Fall-Winter Chinook have shown up late this season due to low rainfall, they are now providing great sport for diligent fishermen. For the better part of the last 2 weeks we have finally had enough rainfall in the Port Orford area and in the upper river drainages to pull in fish and even enough water to float drift boats. Though water levels are nowhere near “bank to bank,” there is enough water to chase after the big feisty “Hawgs” for which the Elk & Sixes are famous. Photos below depict some of the action […]
