A Heavy Rain Brings in Some McKenzie Biters
Julie & Cecil Moore had quite a day on the McKenzie River Chasing after Spring Chinook Salmonon Tuesday June 25th. Landing 3 Springers was enough of a diversion in order to tollerate a rediculous summer downpour. It truly felt like over 2 inches of rain fell during the trip as many buckets of water were bailed in order to lighten the rowing load. At times the rain slammed down so hard you had to drop your head or close your eyes. Still, the rain definitely pulled in new fish and put them in a cooperative spirit. Most of our action came on bait while Cecil and Julie honed there back-bouncing skills. We did however land 1 fish on plastic, as the trusty Kwikfish did its job. I could not have been happier for this recently retired couple who thanked me genuinely for my repeated efforts to backrow through some fairly swift water. As a guide, I in turn, appreciated their honest gratitude which certainly helps justify why we choose guiding over many more lucrative alternatives.
