McKenzie River Fun
We ran 3 very fun & productive trips this past week with Bosey G. The excitement started with an impromptu afternoon-evening drift mostly swinging flies for steelhead in the chop and tail-outs. We ended up with a surprise late season salmon in the very last tailout. What a great fight it gave us on steelhead gear! Given the late calendar date, we were blown away by the wonderful condition of this hatchery “Springer” caught on August 27 and which cut a beautiful orange colored meat and barbequed up like a May 1st Spring Chinook. Yum, Yum! The following 2 days we enjoyed some excellent fly fishing for a mix of hatchery and wild Trout on the Upper and Lower McKenzie.
