After a long and patient wait for swollen rivers to drop back into fishable conditions, many rivers produced real well the past few days. I got excellent reports on a number of different rivers and only wish I had the time to sample them all. The list included the Siuslaw, the Coquille and the Siletz. Rumor has it, the Siuslaw was absolutely "on Fire" for a few days. Lots of fish were hooked on the Coquille as well. I ran trips two days on the Siletz. We landed some very large fish and had plenty of hook-ups both days. We got a few grabs side-drifting but had best success pulling plastic. Weather forecasts for the weekend predict heavy rains and wind, just what we don't need.........such is the plight of the winter steelheader. Our window of opportunity was short but very sweet. Let's hope our next windows are larger, but equally fun.
